Veneers
Are your natural teeth showing signs of discolouration, unusually shaped, especially crowded or spaced with unwanted gaps? Veneers can be a great option to rectify these issues!
What are Veneers?
Veneers are thin facings that are bonded to your natural teeth that mask a number of aesthetic problems. They are a very popular choice as they require minimal preparation, and are custom made so they look and feel natural. One requirement is a sufficient amount of healthy enamel to ensure a strong bond between the veneer and tooth. Our dentists are highly trained in assessing whether a patient’s teeth are suitable for veneers, and will answer any questions in the consultation phase of your treatment.
Cosmetic Dentistry
In some cases, veneers are used as a sole treatment to enhance your smile. However, it is much more common that they are used in combination with other cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening, to improve the colour of teeth, or Invisalign, to correct their positioning.
We often advise patients to undergo a professional teeth whitening treatment so that their new veneers can be designed to match a newer, brighter shade. We use a state-of-the-art Phillip’s Zoom system which uses a proprietary LED light to accelerate whitening for maximum results in minimal time.
Many of our patients want to improve the aesthetics of their smile, but are reluctant to start orthodontic treatment. As cosmetic dentistry is popular with our adult patients, we often suggest Invisalign in conjunction with veneers. Invisalign is a near-invisible way to straighten teeth, using a series of clear plastic aligners rather than the metal or wires needed for traditional braces. It is a revolutionary treatment that makes the process of straightening teeth discreet, making it perfect for those with a busy lifestyle.
Where do I start?
Cosmetic Dentistry is a big step, and not one you have to make alone. We offer all of our patients an assessment with our experienced dentists to help decide the best way to achieve the results they want.
During the assessment, we make it a priority to discuss any concerns you may have, answer any questions and determine the health and strength of your teeth. All of this will help us reach a decision on whether veneers are the right step for you. All our patients are heavily involved in the early process, and each decision is carefully explained so everyone is on the same page.
Once a decision has been made, we will then take a mould of your mouth on which we will base the design of the veneers, and start creating a bespoke treatment plan that works for you.
How are veneers applied?
To prepare the tooth for veneers, your dentist will buff a thin layer of the enamel surface to allow the veneer to sit flat, giving it a natural finish. In some circumstances, we will use a local anaesthetic to ensure a patient is entirely comfortable throughout the process. Our veneers are custom-made by Australia’s best Ceramists to produce optimum results. Their skills mean that the best ceramic materials are used to achieve ideal contours, shade and a lustrous finish!
